Random animal facts: Bats are the only mammals that can actually fly. Hippos are the closest relatives to whales and dolphins. A nine-banded armadillo almost always bears an identical set of quadruplets. A kangaroo rat can go it’s entire life of 3 – 5 years without taking a single sip of water. A full grown horse’s intestines are approximately 89 feet long. Alektorophobia is the condition in which people are afraid of chickens. Dogs are not completely colorblind. They see color in a similar manner as a human with red-green colorblindness. A cat has 32 muscles in each ear. Tylenol and chocolate are both poisonous to cats. Sea otters whose diet includes the purple sea urchin have purple teeth… even their offspring (likely from the mother’s milk). Male Narwhals (aka “unicorn whales”) have only two teeth, both set in the upper jaw. It’s left tooth spirals away from the head in a counterclockwise direction, growing up to 9 or 10 feet in length.
