Does any1 know an easy way to make a solid wood chess board?
I made a chess board in high school. We added a drawer under it to store pieces. I still have it 25+ years later. I would not use scrap wood if you want it to come out nice. Get some nice walnut and maple and cut in it into 2″ strips. Start with white and have 8 of each color. Glue them together, sand, make sure everything is flat. Now cut the wood to to produce 2″ white/black/white/black sections. Turn them around and glue together again. Make sure you have white in the lower right corner. You can then make a wood boarder, I used walnut to make sort of a picture frame around the board. I just watched that video posted and I see he used the same method.
