Does any1 know about parvovirus and kennel cough for dogs?
Kennel Cough (Bordetella) is usually transmitted though the air or via fomites from infected animals coughing/sneezing, or even through direct contact. It usually manifests itself as an upper respiratory disease, however if it gets bad enough one may develop a secondary chest infection. Most dogs do not need treatment and it usually is self-limiting, but infected dogs must be quarentined from others in order not to spread the infection. Parvovirus can be contracted many different ways…it can live in soil for years (picked up by a puppy sniffing the ground), on clothes etc, but not usually through the air. The organs that are infected is the vili of the intestinal tract, which gets very very damaged and inflammed leading to very bloody, mucousy diarrhea and severe dehydration. Puppies who survive this virus can have some stomach issues in the future and tend to have more ‘sensitive’ stomachs. Adults who contract it, which isn’t as common as pups who get it, tend to do quite a bit bett
