Does any1 in Brisbane know a vet that fixes puppy inguinal hernia at a cheap price?
A long, long time ago (approx 20 years) I had a female young dog that had a hernia. At some stage I decided to have her desexed and mentioned this hernia to the vet. The answer I received was, “We can fix it up at the same time, it’s not a big deal”. I can’t remember exactly how much extra it was, but it was a very small amount. I know things have changed a LOT since then, but I would like to think that if fixing a hernia is a very easy procedure as compared to spaying, it still shouldn’t cost as much as spaying. And if you can negotiate a ‘package deal’ like I did back then, I believe the cost will be reasonable. It would also save anesthetic once, and the associated stress it causes the puppy. Of course, we all have a different perspective of what constitutes reasonable. I suggest letting your fingers do the walking (Yellow Pages) and try to find out if prices don’t vary by an absurd amount.
