Does any women out there who have merina insertion for period problems?
Okay, I don’t have the Mirena, but I have the copper IUD, anyway, I know a little about both because I researched them both thoroughly before having mine inserted. Here is my answer: within the first six months to a year of having an IUD inserted you may experience irregular bleeding, this is typical, after the one year adjustment period is over, you probably will have less spottin and may experience fewer to NO periods. The hormone is the Mirena is a progestin, and that is also what is in the Depo Provera shot, which I took for nine months and never had a period once while I was on it, but I spotted the entire time off and on, not to say that I should base anything about the Mirena on the Depo shot, only that the progestin in the Mirena could stop you from ever having a period while the Mirena is in your body, but after a year at most, your irregular, random bleeding should begin to cease and you should experience shorter, lighter periods or none at all and this is NOT to say that the
