Does any one remember liquorice root, it was the actual root and you could chew it for ages?

Yes I do remember liquorice root, it always looked like a dry twig, but it did taste good. I saw some not so long ago in an oldie worldie sweet shop, all the things we liked and ate when we were children were on sale there.
