Does any one know how to get rid of poison ivy plants in the yard?
Think of poison ivy as being covered with “oil”. When you touch it, the oil gets on your skin. You move the oil around your bod, the same way you move dirty motor oil. So the solution to not getting poison ivy (and oak, etc.) is simply to “wash off the oil upon contact”. I suggest that you can strip naked, run jump into the stuff, take a nice hot “soapy” shower – and never get a rash. I also suspect that the blisters are “oil” as well and that’s how you spread the stuff. Once I grasped the concept, “I have never had a case of the stuff, when I knew I was exposed.” Conclusion: if you are exposed, simply quarantine your oily clothes and take an immediate, hot, soapy bath. As for killing it, that’s easy. Go to Tractor Supply and get a bottle of the generic Roundup “41% concentrate” and mix it double strength.
