Does any one know about baby snapping turtles?what to feed them and living conditions ect.?
Well, years ago my children brought home baby turtles, we weren’t sure if they were snapping or mud turtles. We set up an aquarium with about 1/5 of it filled with good well water and added rocks letting some stick out of the water.Also ran a bubble rock in the water to aerate it. At first we fed them “floating food sticks for turtles” and they ate it fine. As they grew a little, we began to feed them meat by skewering the meat on the end of a stick and lowering it down to them and they would stick their heads up and grab it off the end. Once they began eating like this they rapidly grew!!! They would eat large chunks of any kind of meat offered. We had them a while and one day we had them in a large tub in the yard getting air and sunshine and along came a flood and washed them out of their tub. They were about the size of a quarter when we got them and about the size of a small dinner plate when they washed away into the pond. I’m sure there are all sorts of nutrients the turtles may
