Does any one country in this World have enough resources to sustain itself?
The larger a country is, the larger range of natural resources it has usually. Monaco has a narrower range than China obviously, but lives quite well anyway. I don’t think that in the 21st century we should see the World as a collection of countries that try to be self-sufficient. That would be counterproductive, inefficient and in fact illusory. The main issue is to make the World self-sufficient, and to make that goods produced anywhere are accessible anywhere. A quest for resources that bring alternatives to those that are scarce should mobilize the World. This supposes not only economic globalization, which has to be accepted as an opportunity (therefore not considered as a burden) but also democratic political globalization, with some advance towards a World federation. That would avoid, or at least soften, a lot of conflicts, including about resources. .
nope…. no country in this world can sustain itself alone…. even though they might have all the natural resources available, the cost of transforming this raw materials to finished goods would be 2 high, and would be greater than the cost of importing them.. so most countries just prefer to import from other countries where it is cheaper!!!!
