Does an RO systems produce a lot of waste water?
It depends on what is meant by waste. In a brackish water RO system, the conversion rate of pure water to incoming contaminated water can be as high as 70 percent. That is, for every 10 gallons of raw water put into the system you will produce 7 gallons of pure water. In the production of pure water from sea-water, the conversion rate is in the range of 30 percent.
