Does an osteopath exclusively treat bone problems?
This may be the question we hear the most in our practices. Certainly the name of this profession may be misleading. An osteopath analyzes all the structures in the body including bones, joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments without forgetting about organs, viscera, nerves and vessels, whether they are blood or lymphatic. The connection between all of the different tissues, organs and body systems is essential to understand why a problem in health functioning can produce changes in a structures protection or adaptation. On the other hand, any traumatic modification of a structure can lead to functional changes to health, which can be pathological in time. To summarize: OSTEO (structure) + PATHOS (suffering) = Studies damage to the structure. OSTEO (estructura) + PATH (camino)=El camino a travs de la estructura.
