When attaching an external USB hard drive to the LinkStation, please remember that the external drive has to be formatted using the Format utility in the LinkStation Admin section. If the external drive is not formatted in this manner, it will be visible as an additional shared folder under the Linkstation, and users will be able to access the data on it, but no one will be able to write anything to it.
