Does an artificial heart replaces the whole heart?

that depends on how much of the heart needs replacing. if the whole heart is bad, then the artificial heart would eventually take over the supply the demand of the body, but if that is not the case then they would work together usually without issue. the doctors as well would see that and determine whether or not they should completely replace the heart, or if the old one can function normally in some parts but maybe not in all, then the weaker parts would be replaced by the artificial parts. whatever is best, or easier.
