Does an architect or a land/engineering surveyor get paid more?

I have no idea what the guy above me said, but it depends on your position in each: For example, if you worked in an architecture firm as an architect, you may make anywhere from $80-200k, depending on your project and firm size. If you are working as a drafter for an architect though, you may only make $40-60k. Same for a surveyor: If you were the actual engineer and licensed land surveyor, you may make about $70-100k, depending on the scale of your operations. Again, if you were doing the small work for the surveyor and were the person going out on a crew and actually retrieving the data, you may only make $40-60k. But out of the two choices, for sure architecture has more money in its name. Surveying is a less complicated procedure than architecture, so its pay will show that.
