Does all soap contain lye (sodium hydroxide)?

Although lye is always added to oils as part of the soap making process, finished soap no longer contains lye. Once oil and lye saponify (become soap) they can never return to their original form. Remember, if it doesn’t start with lye, it’s not soap.
