Yes, it can go bad. If you keep it in a cool, dry place, it will last quite a while, but it may not be safe if it is from years ago. Most packages of alfalfa have a printed “use by” date on them. Also, most hamsters won’t eat hay, but they do like sleeping in it!

Yes it can go bad. It can last a couple months if it is housed in a dry safe area. If it gets wet or if the air is humid it will mold and make your pet very sick. Good thing you didnt feed it to your hamster.
