At first, Ail (Alan) did think he was in love with Usagi (Serena) and he had a crush on her but he later realized that his strong feelings for her were not love in a romantic sense but love in friendship. Usagi never loved Ail or had a crush on him. Her mind and heart was always set on Mamoru (Darien) and helping him regain his lost memory at the time.
