Does Air Manager release dangerous levels of Ozone into the air?
No, absolutely not. Work was commissioned at the University of Lancashire to determine if there was any ozone released during the operation of the Airmanager. An AM4 unit was operated continuously in a sealed room with a volume of 36.75 cu.m. (3.5m[h] x 3.5m x3.0m) for periods of up to 8 hours. Ozone levels were monitored using 4 commercially available passive ozone test systems. The results indicated that ozone levels reached 0.04 ppm (40 ppb) over an 8 hour period of operation (note that the initial background level in the room was 18 ppm of ozone). The HSE occupational exposure limits (OEL) for ozone over an 8 hour period is 0.2 ppm (200 ppb), well above the levels recorded. HSE also states a limit of exposure for 15 minutes of 0.4 ppm (400 ppb) – this was not recorded in these experiments over a one hour sampling period. Active sampling for ozone was also carried out and failed to detect levels of ozone higher than 0.01 ppm (10 ppb) at the surface of the filter during operation of
