Does afterlife really exist?
All knowledge, including scientific knowledge, is tentative. Therefore, you will never know anything with absolute certainty. The question of whether afterlife exists in particular is hardly amenable to the scientific method. On a related topic, there are people out there called parapsychologists who investigate the so called paranormal phenomena (or ESP). Unfortunately, their methods are often questionable and their findings inconclusive. There are also skeptical individuals like James Randi who go to great lengths to publicly challenge extraordinary claims of all sorts. Therefore, currently, there does not seem to be reliable, publicly available evidence to support claims of an afterlife. Nevertheless, as Carl Sagan said, absence of evidence does not amount to evidence of absence, and scientific methods should be used to investigate all possibilities, thus bringing the paranormal into the real of the normal.
