Does AEMMA just do longsword training, or are other arts researched and practised as well?
A. AEMMA incorporates into longsword training both grappling and dagger techniques as described in the 14th and 15th century manuscripts. Training in grappling and dagger are considered foundational for historical European martial arts, and will develop the student’s sensitivity, timing, judgment, distance and targeting. These are critical warrior attributes important for every martial artist regardless of whether one is training in historical European martial arts or Eastern martial arts systems. AEMMA is also investigating quarter staff, pole weapons and possibly longbow techniques. Longsword is our primary focus but is not our only interest.
