Does acquisition of natural resources make a nation powerful?
Natural resources without intellectual resources is not enough to make a nation powerful. Many African nations are loaded with natural resources and are virtually powerless. Conversely you might look at Japan, which has little in the way of natural resources and is a nation with power and a good standard of living. This is mostly due to intellectual power, not natural resources.
