Does ACE approve courses that culminate in a certification?
In an effort to continue to fulfill the ACE mission statement of protecting the public, we strongly believe in establishing a legitimate standard for credentialing while upholding separate rigorous requirements for continuing education. While ACE remains in strong support of NCCA-accreditation for certification programs, which is essential to providing the highest level of service to consumers as well as enhancing the image of our industry’s professionals, we also recognize the need for establishing and adhering to high standards in reviewing and approving continuing education courses, which helps to keep professionals current by updating their knowledge base and teaching them new skills. It is for that reason that ACE will continue to not approve core certification programs (e.g., foundational and advanced personal trainer, exercise specialist and group fitness instructor certifications) that are non-NCCA accredited.
