For Blue Shield health care service plans regulated by DMHC, AB 2208 applies to group plans. Note: We voluntarily added domestic partner coverage to IFPs for the July 2004 renewal. For Blue Shield Life products, it applies to all categories of insurance including IFP that provide coverage for a spouse (i.e. life, and disability). The effective date for insurance products other than health is January 1, 2005. Note: It only applies to health plans and to policies of insurance that cover the spouse of the subscriber. If the plan is subscriber only (e.g., Medicare Supplemental), domestic partners are not covered because spouses are not covered.
