I can see where this might be a temptation for some, but it is a temptation that should be avoided. The main reason that I say this is the children. Marriages based on financial need often fail. If you marry someone just for financial assistance, marital problems are typically not too far around the corner. So, what happens is that the children are put into a situation where they have to adjust to having a step parent in their lives, quite possibly becoming attached to them, and then they’re taken through the whole process of a breakup. While it sounds tempting, it is definitely not good for the emotional health of children to have people in and out of their lives as parental type figures.
