The International Civil Aviation Organization Technical Instructions (TIs) specify packing instruction 650 for transport of UN3373, BIOLOGICAL SUBSTANCE, CATEGORY B. A Type 1B container in accordance with the edition of CAN/CGSB-43.125 now in force does not automatically satisfy all of the requirements specified in ICAO packing instruction 650. If your consignment is subject to the requiremetns of packing instruction 650 of the ICAO TIs you must ensure that the additional requirements of P650 are satsified. The following table outlines the significant differences between the requirements for a Type 1B packaging and a package prepared in accordance with ICAO packing instruction 650.
