Does a student need to know what field of engineering they want to study before enrolling?
No. Many subjects must be taken by all engineering students in the first two years. An engineering student may wait until the third year before selecting which specialty to pursue. Qualified students, from engineering transfer programs in community colleges, may enter any specialty with advanced standing.
