Does a seal on the beach need help?
Not necessarily. Monk seals will spend 1/3 of their life on the land and do come out to bask and rest on the shores of the main Hawaiian Islands. A seal will need help if it is a “live stranded animal.” This is defined as an animal that, as a result of an injury, disease or otherwise compromised, is acting abnormally and cannot return to the ocean on its own.
