Does a school need a feasibility study?
A feasibility study is a pre-campaign market survey. The market is a school’s best campaign prospects. The survey determines how they feel about the school and the case for support. It evaluates their readiness and ability to support the campaign. A feasibility study report provides a roadmap for an upcoming campaign — its goal, timetable, focus, leadership, organization, publicity, and case for support. Schools that are new to capital fund raising and schools that are setting very ambitious goals should seriously consider a pre-campaign feasibility study. On the other hand, schools that have a well-researched, well-cultivated, and well-stewarded pool of major gift prospects and schools that are raising money for endowment with a flexible timetable may be able to proceed cautiously without a study.
