Does a reflexologist diagnose illness or disease?
A reflexologist is not allowed to diagnose, prescribe or treat for any specific conditions, it is illlegal. Only a licensed medical professional can do this. When treating the body as a whole, it is actually not necessary to know what the problem is or even what the symptoms are, it is only necessary to stimulate the reflexes that affect the entire body and let the body naturally take over and do the job that it is meant to do – heal itself. Reflexology identifies where stress and tension is located in the body. This can be valuable in assisting the diagnosis process, but it is not sufficient by itself. Only a naturopathic doctor or medical doctor can diagnose your condition. Reflexologists are not licensed health care providers and are legally not permitted to diagnose.
