Does a portable (self-contained) spa need a permit?

Yes, an electrical permit for any exterior wiring is required and a plumbing permit for gas lines, etc, would be required. Although it would not require a permit, a complying fence and gate must be installed before any permits could be finalled. Call the Building Division at (805) 449-2500 or email CommunityDevelopment@toaks.org for information, or visit the Community Development Department Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., for additional information and to obtain necessary permits.
