Does a pet rat draw wild rats into the home?
I had three pet rats at one time and at no time did I ever have a rodent problem. I have also owned hamsters which some say draw rats also, it didn’t and I bread them… Back to my three pet rats… I bought three female rats and all were pregnant… I had them for quite a while until they were ready to be sold and I traded them in for more things for my pets. The life span on a rat is about 2 to 3 years, though I had one live to be 5. In all this time, NEVER had a rodent problem. I think its one of those things that parents tell their kids when they don’t want a rat in the house. I have heard that too, but never did happen. Rats also make a good pet, they are sweet little things. Well I say little I had one of mine get to be pretty big. I found that guinea pig cages are best for them. You can put all sorts of things in one of those cages for them to climb on and exercise.
