Does a pergine falcon eat a robin?
Peregrines are not particularly fussy and will take a wide variety of different bird species as prey so MAY take a robin (I’m assuming that you mean American Robin?). Peregrines typically hunt in habitats that are more open than those favoured by robins though so they would not be a typical prey species – ducks, waders, gulls and pigeons would be more usually prey. Robins (and other small birds found in woodland and hedgerows) would be more likely to be the prey of Accipiter species (Northern Goshawk, and Cooper’s + Sharp-shinned Hawks in North America). These species hunt birds in these habitats by surprise – flipping over a hedge to catch birds feeding on the other side, or crashing straight through hedges. Other raptor species will also take birds like robins occasionally if they get the chance, as will mammals like foxes, mink etc.
