Knotty question IMO as has been said the power the physical item has comes from what you believe it has – the qualities you believe it to posess therefore manifest. However I’d say to really answer your question you need to break down what the pentacle actually represents. So, for a more complete answer try thinking along the lines of what the pentacle is used for. The pentacle as an item on the Altar is a point of power, a five pointed star (pentagram) enclosed within a never ending circle, in Wicca the five points mean Earth Air Fire and Water topped by Spirit, all enclosed within the sacred circle, so this simple design is both a protective AND balancing symbol.
