Does a movie like Watchmen boost sales?
Definitely. I opened the store the day Watchmen opened in theaters. The book sold like crazy for the first few weeks that we were open, but that book had been selling well since last summer because the trailer was released before The Dark Knight. So they definitely drive sales. How much they drive repeat sales, I’m not sure. But they do generate interest. I was here for the grand opening party, and I must say it was a pretty hip crowd. Is that because it’s Brooklyn, or do comic book readers get a bum rap? People tend to stereotype comic book readers as the Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons. The stereotypical comic book fan is probably not so accurate anymore. That party was definitely more reflective of this neighborhood, and the type of comic book fan that would come to this store, and to a party even. Not necessarily the best cross-section of the average comic book reader in New York, or even in Brooklyn, but yeah I think the stereotype is outdated. Do you think you get a lot of walk-
