Does a lightning strike cause milk to spoil?
Aside from that, I see no reason that a close lightning strike would have any effect on milk at all. Close lightning strikes produce really only three effects: • A strong electromagnetic pulse caused by the passage of current to ground, • A bright flash of light, including some ultraviolet, • A powerful shock wave (overpressure) resulting from the ionization of air. The electromagnetic pulse won’t do anything to milk. The UV might sterilize it, but that’s already been done when it was pasteurized and processed. The overpressure … well, clap your hands really loudly next to the jug and see if anything happens. I’m betting on nothing.
