DOES A HAND PUMP HAVE TO BE SEALED WATER TIGHT TO THE TOP OF THE CASING?
The answer to this question is yes. BISON PUMPS has gone to great lengths to assure that our hand pump is sealed to the possible introduction of contaminates into your well. The flange which bolts to the well seal is water tight, the lift rod through the top of the well head is also a water tight connection. A pitcher pump or anything resembling any open type pitcher pump should not be installed on any potable water supply. Your water supply is a precious commodity and should be protected against any possible contamination. In your haste and anxiousness to get a hand pump installed in your well, please do not sacrifice quality and durability in selecting your deep well hand pump.
