The Catholic Church clearly states that homosexual sexual acts are contrary to natural law and cannot be approved (Catechism of the Catholic Church 2357). However, the Catholic Church is just as adamant about two other aspects pertaining to homosexuality that are often overlooked: homosexuals experience much trial in coming to terms with their sexual orientation (CCC 2358), and homosexuals must “be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity” (CCC 2358). The Catholic Church states that “every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided” (CCC 2358). CUAllies does not promote same-sex sexual acts; therefore, the mission of the Church is not being compromised and/or undermined. CUAllies promotes the dignity of the homosexual person and works to create an environment where all people feel safe, welcomed, and affirmed.
