Does A Girls Team need to be created to adhere to Title 9?
Being that hockey does not exclude girls from the team, a separate girls team does not need to be formed at this time. Our existing JV team already rosters 3 girls. E. Will fundraising involvement have any affect on team eligibility or playing time. How will this issue be addressed? This will indeed be a concern. To address this issue, we have proposed a sample contract for parents to sign upon expressing interest in the NAHS hockey program. It states the request of the NAHA to have a JV High School team recognized by the school committee and recognizes the conditions under which it was approved. Under no circumstances will the amount of fundraising contributed by a parent have any affect on making the team or the amount of playing time if rostered on the team. These decisions will be left entirely up to the NAHS coach. See attachment (14) V.
