Some Americans with a particular ideological slant cite an impressive list of federal laws, executive orders, and U.S. Army regulations having to do with the U.S. flag, and theorize that if these are not followed exactly, it is an indicator that the institution displaying the flag is directly or indirectly part of an anti-U.S. movement or conspiracy, or that martial law has been secretly imposed.
