Does a Friedrich Portable air conditioner dehumidify?
Both of the Friedrich portable AC models have specific modes for cooling and dehumidification. The cooling mode will work to reduce the room temperature to the desired set-point. By nature, an air conditioner in the cooling mode will also extract humidity from the air. The compressor will operate and the fan will run at a low speed so that the unit can draw the moist air over the cold coil and dry the air before it is sent back into the room. The dehumidification mode operates regardless of the temperature set point. One would use the dehumidification mode instead of the cooling mode if the temperature in the room was acceptable, but the humidity level was higher than desired.
