Does a dog need to be pure bred to register with CKC (continental kennel club)?
Continental Kennel club is a joke. It was started because many of the puppy mills didn’t want to submit to DNA and kennel inspections AKC started. They started their own “registry” and will accept about anything. Puppy buyers often get confused because they know they should get a registered dog but because of these misleading registries uninformed people get confused. I wouldn’t count on a CKC dog being purebred. AKC is considered the hallmark of American purebred registries–no exception!
You can register mixed breeds with ckc as well. The papers are labled as either purebred or nnon purebred If your dog is AKC registered you know for sure that it is purebred, because when you have AKC breeding rights, someone from AKC will come and inspect your kennel every couple of years and will pick random dogs to do DNA tests on and then look back at your records to make sure that everything matches up right and if they don’t then you can lose your AKC breeding privileges. CKC doesn’t do anything like that so you could get away with registering a nnon purebreddog as a purebred dog. So if you buy a CKC dog you really just have to trust your breeder.
