Yes. If you put in more effort, you will get a higher degree class than if you don’t. It doesn’t work except for the effort put in by one person. You might put in loads of effort and still get a lower class than someone who did less work than you but is a genius. There is no way we can tell whether you are working less hard than your friends or just less capable than they are. All we can say is that if you work harder you will do better.
