Does a customer only need an antenna to connect to the network?

No, the customer also needs a wireless device (radio) connected between the antenna and his computer. He needs a cable (and possibly a pigtail too, see details below) to connect the antenna to the device. Then the device is connected to the computer using normal ethernet cable.
