I am currently having my contractor install a cultured marble shower pan, bench top, and soap dishes surrounded by ceramic tile much as you have described. The shower pan and bench top were delivered yesterday. We had selected three colors for the cultured marble to coordinate with our variegated porcelain tile so that the color scheme would be somewhat consistent. I am extremely disappointed in the appearance of the cultured marble pieces which were delivered because the manufacturer did not create a nature, marble-like swirling effect as expected. It looks like someone tried to clean a paint brush which caused brown and white paint strokes permanently stained on my shower floor.
