Does a clothes dryer that costs $1,000 dry any better than one that costs $300?

I think so. I like the European models that are more efficient. They are known for drying the clothes faster without ‘burning’ or cooking the clothes. I don’t know how they do it but they are terrific. They are easier on your clothes so they don’t get as worn out. And they tend to last for a much longer time, at the original quality. But you don’t have to spend oodles to get that. You could buy a simple Danby model and it will work just the same, though it is smaller interior-wise.

That depends. I don’t know if it is possible to make a dryer $700 better than another dryer. They are pretty simple machines. Most of that is probably just pricing it to match a high end washer with a fancy paint job. I don’t know that I would pay good money to have a red dryer over a white one. There are often also many little electronic gadgets on those high end dryers that are supposed to keep wrinkles out of your clothes and prevent over drying. In my experience, those are usually the first things to break and you spend years just drying your clothes the old fashioned way without the expensive add on. However, I would pay a little extra to have an energy star dryer, as the savings in electricity will pay for it. Here is a link to a page on how dryers work. Once you see how simple they are, you’ll probably have a better idea as to whether its worth it.
