No. The DMV does not require a new certification card, but an inspector must complete the OBDII training and pass the NYVIP certification test to conduct the NYVIP inspections that include the OBDII emission inspections. An Inspector must have a valid certification card and make sure that a barcode scanner will read the barcode on the certification card. To replace an inspector certification card, call the DMV Inspector Certification Unit at 518-474-7998.
