First of all, let me state at the outset that this is not a rant against America, nor am I a communist. Like most that are living through the current economic downturn however, I can see the forest through the trees. Our current economy, by even the most fervent capitalist’s standards, is literally sucking the life from a great many hardworking people. Higher gas, food, lodging and just about every other commodity charges, do not keep pace with the meager (if given at all) raises or increases in our salaries that most of us receive. It is becoming increasingly common to see people, who make what sound like good incomes, working a second job or putting in overtime at their primary occupation in order to bring in more money so they can continue to live the same way; maintaining if you will.
