Does a C section scar hurt with following pregnancies?
Gynae’s usually cut over the same scar in following c-sections. If the area isn’t looking red or inflammed or splotchy (which might indicate a fungal infection or skin condition), it’s most probably due to the stretching of scar tissue. Because scar tissue is not as stretchable as normal tissue, the expanding tummy might strain it a little, resulting in itch and sometimes mild stretching aches. However, do rest assured that your scar will not simply burst open…our tissues are made of much better components than that! To help ease the itch due to stretching, moisturize the area regularly to keep the skin supple and more stretchable. Also, avoid using any soaps that might dry up your skin. Drink sufficient fluids to keep yourself hydrated as well, and well-balanced meals to keep up your tissue health as well as for your overall well-being. Ensure sufficient rest for general optimal bodily functioning as well. Congrats on your second child!
