I live in Newcastle and I have mostly heard black people with an English accent from down South (mostly the London cockney accent) One of my mates is black and from Birmingham so we just make fun of him. I have never heard a black adult person who was born in Newcastle, only kids. Most Americans think the English accent sounds classy but if you’re from here you will know the difference between different accents. I don’t think you will sound like an Uncle Tom or snobby just because of your accent. I think you could pull a lot of women because most Americans I know think the English accent is sexy (no matter what part of England a person is from!
