“Good afternoon my name is Tom Brintzenhofe, Certified Master Mechanic out of Reading, Pennsylvania and today I’m going to talk to you a little bit about does big tire size increase your gas mileage. That’s a little bit of a big misconception because it really in essence does not. The bigger tire you have the more your engine is going to have to work to get that vehicle to move. Now the only time that having the advantage of having a bigger tire would be off roading. The only time it would ever increase your fuel economy is when you are doing 60 miles an hour down the highway. Pulling out, running around town it’s really going to hurt you more than it will help you. The bigger tire size the slower and harder it is for your engine to move that vehicle. Obviously the harder your engine is working to get that thing up and running the more gas it is going to suck so the only advantage you might have on like I was saying before is going down the highway if you are constantly driving 60 to 7
